I have never been one for books on the paranormal but Langrel's stories are quite good with a down-home sense of communications between the main character, Finn McCoy, and his girlfriend, Amanda. This story was especially good because not only did the story have a true sense of "scary," it also had a heartwarming part with the introduction of the twelve year old girl. Its easy to read, holding your attention to the very end. I like the description of the environment surrounding the story but its not overwhelming or adding pages upon pages of the landscape. It does though get you thinking about what lives in the shadows . . .Product details

Shadows in the Sand A Finn McCoy Paranormal Thriller Book 2 edition by Scott Langrel Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This series is fast passed and fun! Action, magic, awesome Bad Guys and authentic characters! McCoy himself is a hoot! I immediately snagged book 3!
Shadows in the Sand is one of those books that just keeps on happening from the moment you begin reading to "The End"! Loved the ocean setting for yet another unearthly being to make it's menacing appearance, and Finn's introduction of Prucilla, a 12 year old gifted child. This was rapid fire reading for me, never a dull moment, and I'm hoping that Pru can be intergrated into future books. Keep the Finn McCoy books coming!
The second book about Finn McCoy the paranormal handler lived up to the expectations set by the first. Once more Finn gets involved in supernatural shenanigans. This time, however he had help from a 12 year old girl who is hope we see in later stories. She's quite the character.
I have fallen in love with this series. I have always loved supernatural tales and the story line and characters in this series is a wonderful read. Finn McCoy is a strong but fallible character who is aware of the Fey (fairies and such), demons and other other worldly beings and "handles" problems involving them. Fast paced, strong charaterizations and likable people make this and the other books in the series a fun ride and read.
Again Scott Langrel's concise use of descriptive words and phrases merely enhances the tension in the second book featuring Finn McCoy "handling" evil creatures from "other" places. This time Finn is called to the beach by a friend who believes two drownings were not accidents. Twelve-year-old Pru is introduced -- a spunky, smart child who sees "things." A great pairing of similar souls. Highly entertaining and page turning. I am now a devoted fan and have "Cold Chills" next in my sights.
Myth, Legend - or reality? Paranormal handler Finn McCoy journeys from his home in the Appalachian mountains to the shores of South Carolina's barrier islands to help a friend haunted by ghosts. This should almost be a vacation for Finn and his girlfriend, Amanda; after all, compared to the demons and other malevolent creatures infesting Finn's home town of Shallow Springs, a ghost hunt should be a walk on the beach. As Finn says, "What could possibly go wrong?"
Once again, Scott Langrel offers his fans a heart-pounding glimpse into the paranormal world inhabited by Finn McCoy, his cohorts and the Otherworldly monsters seeking their destruction.
I got Scott Langrel's first Finn McCoy book on a special offer (it was free!!) and enjoyed it so much I bought all of his Finn McCoy books. Just finished this one, they are quick reads but not too short. Wow, I think it was better than the first. A great well crafted story line, wonderful characters, good scenery and atmosphere. Good down-to-earth paranormal thriller. Fast moving, suspense, twists and turns. Not deep in pseudo-scientific explanations, they don't use high-tech equipment (other than the Internet or books to research what they are up against). I'm looking forward to the other Finn McCoy thrillers and will buy the new ones as they come out. This one took place on a small island off the SC coast, and the description reminded me of our vacations on a similar island off the coast of GA, brought back memories. Good writing style, I do not hesitate to recommend this book.
